While we maintain a high level of uptime for Blackboard SaaS, there are times when a small period of downtime is required to perform maintenance. The next maintenance event will occur between December 01, 2024 and January 31, 2025.
Following the Blackboard SaaS release on November 7th, your institution will receive an email with a preselected date and time for your upcoming maintenance window. The preselected window will occur during off-hours based on your location. If this date and time work for your institution, no further action is needed. If you'd like to change your scheduled maintenance date, you can use the self-service scheduler in the administrator panel.
Your system will be inaccessible to all users during the 6-hour update process.
Reschedule your maintenance window
If the preselected window doesn’t work for your institution, you can choose a different date and time.
- From the administrator panel, under Tools and Utilities, select System Configuration. Then select Downtime Maintenance Schedule.
- In the Maintenance date field, select a date and time that allows for minimal disruption to your users. The scheduled time and date appear under Status.
- Select OK when you're done.
Notes
- If the date and time you select are not available, you'll be contacted to choose another window.
- You can reschedule your maintenance window up to 48 hours before your scheduled date. If you need to reschedule within the 48-hour period, contact Blackboard Support.
- If you use Blackboard SaaS Basic, self-service scheduling is unavailable. You'll need to reach out to Blackboard Support to schedule your maintenance window.
- The maintenance update must be complete by January 31, 2025.
If your selected maintenance window overlaps with a regularly scheduled Blackboard update to Production, the maintenance update will process first. To avoid issues, we recommend that you avoid scheduling your window to occur on a Thursday.
