We're releasing a new process to reduce the amount of coordination and communication efforts between clients and Blackboard Support when a Learn SaaS site requires specific maintenance activities.
Postgres 12.5 upgrade scheduling
We try our best to have the highest uptime available for Learn SaaS, but there are often actions that require we take a customers site down to perform maintenance. The database upgrade to Postgres 12.5 will require some downtime. We've given you the power to schedule the upgrade maintenance window so you're in control of the timing.
- You can schedule your maintenance window in the administrator panel.
- Select a date and time that allows for minimal disruption to your users.
- You can reschedule your maintenance date up to 24-hours in advance of your scheduled date.
- The upgrade must be completed by November 30, 2021.
- You can't reschedule your maintenance date within 24 hours of your scheduled date.
In the unlikely event that a database upgrade overlaps with an active Learn upgrade, the already active action will take precedence. We recommend not scheduling your database upgrade on Thursdays so it doesn’t interfere with Learn upgrades on production.
Schedule your maintenance
We will send you an email with a preselected time and date, between June 17, 2021 and August 3, 2021, for your maintenance upgrade. If this date works for your upgrade, no further action is needed. If you'd like to edit your schedule, you can use the self-scheduler in the administrator panel.
In the administrator panel, navigate to Tools and Utilities > System Configuration > Downtime Maintenance Schedule.
Use the date and time picker to select your upgrade schedule. After you've chosen your date, click Select. The scheduled time and date display under Status. Select OK when you're done.
The upgrade must be scheduled to occur before November 30, 2021. You can reschedule your date and time up to 24 hours in advance of the scheduled upgrade.
You can't reschedule your date from the administrator panel within 24 hours of the scheduled date and time. Contact Blackboard Support for more help if you need to reschedule within that 24-hour time period.
If your site is ineligible for self-service scheduling, you'll see "Your site isn't available for a scheduled window. Please contact the Blackboard Support Team for more information." You'll need to reach out to Blackboard Support to schedule your maintenance window.
