You can manage the links that appear on the left side of a tab. Links can be to educational partners, research tools, or any Web page relevant to your institution.

Create or edit hot link content

  1. On the Administrator Panel, under Communities, select Tabs and Modules.
  2. Select Tabs.
  3. In the tab's menu, select Hot Link Content.
  4. To create a link, select Create Web Link. To edit an existing link, select Edit in the link's menu. The following table describes the available fields.

    Field Description
    URL Information
    Name Provide a name for the link. The name appears in the Hot Links box.
    URL Provide the URL for the link. This must be the full URL. For example, http://www.blackboard.com, not www.blackboard.com or blackboard.com.
    Description Provide a description of the link. The description will appear below the link name in the partnerships box.
    Options
    Permit Users to View this Content Select Yes to make the link available.
    Open in New Window Select Yes or No to determine if the link opens the Web site in an external browser window.
    Select Date and Time Restrictions Select Display After and Display Until, and then select the range of dates that the folder will appear.
  5. Select Submit.

Manage hot link content

  1. On the Administrator Panel, under Communities, select Tabs and Modules.
  2. Select Tabs.
  3. In the tab's menu, select Hot Link Content. This option is available for the My Institution, Courses, Community, and Services tabs, and for any module tab created by an administrator. The following table describes the available tasks.

    Add a link Create Web Link
    Modify a link Select Edit in the link's menu.
    Remove a link Select Delete in the link's menu. This action is irreversible.
    Change the placement of a link The double arrow icon to the left of the link. Drag and drop the link into position.
  4. Select Submit.
