Ready to socialize?

Placing your social media accounts into Social Media Manager will allow you to access the posts through the Social page in the Blackboard Communications HQ interface.

  • From the Blackboard Communications HQ interface menu, select Settings > Social Media.

Add a Facebook account

  1. Select the district or school Name to add the account.
  2. Select the Facebook icon.
  3. Type the Facebook Login and Password and select Login.
  4. Select the school from the list, and then select Add.

    A new link appears with the Facebook page. Repeat this process for each Facebook feed for each school.


Add a Twitter account

  1. Select the school Name to add the account.
  2. Select the Twitter icon.
  3. Type the Twitter Username or Email and Password.
  4. Select Authorize app.
  5. Select the school from the list, and then select Add.

    A new link appears with the Twitter information. Repeat this process for each Twitter feed for each school.


Select the default account

Some of the schools have more than one Facebook or Twitter pages. With the Default Accounts feature, add in as many feeds as needed, and select one as the primary account.

  1. From the Blackboard Communications HQ interface menu, select Settings > Social Media.
  2. Select the school Name to select the account.
  3. Select the Facebook or Twitter feed to be the default.
  4. Select Default Account and select Done.

Set social media VIPs and guidelines

With the Global Settings in Social Media Manager, you can determine who will be marked as a VIP. VIP's are determined by the amount of followers the individual has on Facebook or Twitter.

You can also set guidelines or rules for your community pertaining to the use of social media, and determine the radius used for the Discover feature, which contains the list of tweets about your school.

  1. From the Blackboard Communications HQ interface menu, select Settings > Social Media.
  2. Select Global Social Media Settings.
  3. In VIP Thresholds, type the number of followers for VIP status in Facebook and Twitter.
  4. Select Save.
  5. Type the number of miles for the Discovery Search Radius. This number sets the location of tweets that will be included on the Discover tab in Social Media Manager.
  6. Insert the Guidelines for the district social media.
  7. Select Save.
