Provide your domain(s) and content information

Approximately two-three weeks before you are ready to redirect your domain to your new Blackboard website, provide your domain(s) and Technical Contact information to your Project Manager.

Your Project Manager will submit a request to our Hosting Team to prepare the SSL Certificate and update your website so your domain will work properly once you complete the redirect.

Certificate approval

Within about one week, an email will be generated with the subject "Certificate Approval for (yourdomain)" from Amazon Certificates. Your PM will contact you and your technical contact for the domain once the email has been sent. It is automatically sent to the Administrative and Technical contacts for your domain, in addition to the following "generic" email addresses (where "yourdomain.com" represents the domain for which the certificate request has been made):

  1. [email protected]
  2. [email protected]
  3. [email protected]
  4. [email protected]
  5. [email protected]

If you are not familiar with the Administrative and Technical contacts listed for your domain, you can look-up this information on a site such as Domain Dossier.

Your district or school only needs to follow the instructions to approve the request one time within 72 hours of the email being sent.

Update your CNAME on your DNS

Once approved, your Project Manager will provide you with the details to update your CNAME on your DNS to point your domain to your new website.

After you complete the domain updates on your end it may take up to 24 hours for the domain changes to propagate. It is also important to be aware if both internal and external DNS records need to be updated for the domain changes to reflect externally and internally within your district.
