Beta release of Collaborate’s new audio/video service in May and June
Continuous Delivery Collaborate Ultra 22.08 | Release to Production: 12 May 2022 and 9 June 2022
New features
27 May 2022 Update: Institutions who didn't get access to the Chime beta release in May will have it available from the 9th of June.
We are in the process of rebuilding Collaborate on top of a new video and audio service, Amazon Chime. While this work is in progress, we are pleased to be able to make a beta version available for users who would like to try it.
This option will be gradually rolled out to institutions during the May and the June releases.
Session owners can then pick this option in the session settings from the Scheduler. They should consult the linked Chime help page to check the most up-to-date list of features that are included and those not included yet at this beta stage.
Chime sessions feature visibly higher quality video and application sharing, as well as benefit from high reliability and scaling.
These features are not yet part of this beta release:
- Polling
- Breakout groups
- Session Engagement Insights
- Joining the session by phone dial-in
- Pointer does not appear in recordings
- Large scale sessions (more than 250 attendees)
- Not yet suitable for conducting sessions with accessibility requirements (including captioning)
Please consult the Chime documentation for more details.
As we continue the work and gradually add features to match the ones currently in the standard Collaborate, the release notes and documentation page will get updated.
