Just ask Alexa

Blackboard Alexa Skill is available in the U.S. only.

With Blackboard Alexa Skill, you can use an Alexa device to find out what's going on in your courses. You must be age 13 and older to link their Blackboard account to your Alexa device.

You can ask Alexa what homework and assignments are due.

  • Alexa, what do I have due tomorrow?
  • Alexa, do I have anything due this week?
  • Alexa, do I have anything due next week?
  • Alexa, do I have any homework?
  • Alexa, what do I have due on [day]?
    • Alexa, what do I have due on Friday?
  • Alexa, do I have any homework in [course name]?
    • Alexa, do I have any homework in Economics?

Alexa can give you basic information that includes assignment name, type, due date, and course name.

This skill is only available for students enrolled in Blackboard Learn courses. Parents can't access information about their children. For example, "Alexa, what assignments do the kids have?" is not supported. You must be age 13 and older to link your Blackboard account to an Alexa device.

Before you begin

Before you can ask Alexa to check on your Blackboard courses, be sure you have these items:

  • Amazon.com account
  • Alexa app on your mobile device
  • Blackboard Learn account at your school

Your school needs to have mobile device access enabled. Install the Alexa app on your mobile device and follow the steps to link your account. If your school has mobile device access enabled, you'll see it in the list of institutions.

Now you can log in to the Alexa app and set up a link with your Blackboard Learn account.
