Microsoft and Blackboard Integrations
Microsoft integrations with Blackboard enhance the capabilities and functionality of your platform and push forward your teaching experience. As new integrations are created for Blackboard, this section will be updated.
Institutions managed multiple Microsoft LTI integrations (Teams Classes, Teams Meetings, Teams Assignments, OneDrive, OneNote, Reflect, etc.), each with separate placements. This fragmentation created confusion for administrators, faculty, and students.
The new Microsoft 365 LTI app consolidates these into a single integration. It is designed to:
- Replace legacy Teams and Office 365 integrations.
- Provide a unified entry point for Microsoft tools directly inside Blackboard Ultra.
- Ensure continued support as Microsoft deprecates older LTIs (Teams Classes and Teams Meetings).
- Allow administrators to control capabilities like whether course-level Teams can be automatically created.
Transition support
- Legacy Teams integrations are not available after September 15, 2025.
- These four tools will reach end of life on September 17, 2026. These include the retirement of the remaining legacy LTI tools:
- Teams Assignments LTI
- OneDrive LTI
- OneNote Class Notebook LTI
- Reflect LTI
- Blackboard provides mechanisms to exclude old placements while enabling the new tool in parallel.
- Administrators can synchronize placements at any time from Blackboard to align with Microsoft’s integration updates in the Developer Portal.
