Backup and Recovery in a SQL Environment

There are several methods and solutions for administrators interested in establishing regularly scheduled backups (and associated restore procedures) of SQL databases. Regularly scheduled maintenance is outside the scope of this document. To learn more, see the documentation supplied by Microsoft.

It is critical to backup the file system at the same time as the databases (cold backup). When restoring the databases from a backup, be sure to restore the file system to ensure synchronization between the file system and the databases.
