Stay on top of your social media exchanges!

You can view posts added through any of your social media applications using the Social Media Manager tool.

Access Social Media Manager though the Blackboard Communications HQ web interface or mobile app.


View current social activity

See all social media posts, or activity, listed throughout the school and district. You can also narrow the information by questions asked in the community, and by VIP posts.

  1. From the Blackboard Communications HQ interface menu, select Social > Activity.
  2. You can select or clear any of the schools in the district list.
  3. View a list of all the posts from Facebook and Twitter on the right.
    • To view the questions that people have for the schools or district, select Questions.

      You can answer any posts from this page by selecting the Reply button, type the response, and then select Post.

    • To view the posts added by VIPs, select VIP.

      You can also reply to these posts.


View tweets about your school or district

View Twitter posts that mention the school or district from the Discover page.

  1. From the Blackboard Communications HQ interface menu, select Social > Discover.
  2. You can select or clear any of the schools in the district list.
  3. View a list of all the posts from Twitter on the right.

    You can answer any posts from this page by selecting the Reply button, type the response, and then select Post.


Manage your VIPs

VIP's are influential followers of your school or district that have a large social media reach. Find out who the VIP's for the school district are and how to add or delete someone as a VIP.

  1. From the Blackboard Communications HQ interface menu, select Social > VIPs.
  2. You can select or clear any of the schools in the district list.
  3. Select a VIP, to view the amount of followers and posts the individual has.
  4. To add a VIP:
    • You must know the person's Twitter name or Facebook URL.
    • Select Add VIP.
    • Type in the person's Twitter name or Facebook URL and select Search.
    • Select VIP.
  5. To delete a VIP:
    • Select the VIP to remove from the list.
    • Select VIP on the bottom right.
    • Select the school the VIP follows.
    • Clear the school to remove the user as a VIP from that school.

Track the social media activity

Review how active each Facebook and Twitter page is for each school. The tool tracks the number of posts made by the school and how many followers each post contains.

  1. From the Blackboard Communications HQ interface menu, select Social > Influence.
    • Click on an individual school to get a more in detail report for each Facebook and Twitter account.

    The page displays the stats for how many followers and posts each school has for Facebook and Twitter combined.


View Social Media through Blackboard Communication HQ app

You can access any social media posts through the Blackboard Communications HQ app. You can reply to all types of comments, answer specific questions, and reply to specific VIPs set for Sociability.

  1. Select the Social Media icon from the Blackboard Communications HQ app.
  2. Select Activity.
  3. Select the type of posts to view:
    • Select All to see all that's going on. The All page will show posts recently made on social media that that are being tracked.
    • Select Questions to only show posts that contain a question. This page starts with the most recent question posted on one of the pages/accounts being tracked by your district or school.
    • Select VIPs to only shows posts that were posted by a VIP, starting with the most recent post.
  4. Reply to any of the posts:
    • Select the post where you want a response.
    • Type the response and select Post.

You can review your social media influence based on the number or followers, posts, and your VIP influence, plus you can discover when other pages link to your school, and add social media guidelines for your school.
