In this update, we're addressing frequent logouts based on your feedback. While these logouts may seem like an issue they're a new security feature required by some institutions. We're making a temporary change that allows for longer sessions.
Please be aware that institutions requiring IL4 certification will have a default 25-minute session timeout in the future, which we can't alter. We appreciate your patience as we work towards a solution that meets everyone's needs for a smoother experience.

For administrators: There are default times for session timeout set, please update these accordingly to your institution's needs in the admin panel.

• In this release, the institutions will now have the option to administrate the availability of messages. Users will have a new experience in Messages, improving the way to identify new and unread messages.
• On the grades landing page, users will be able to see the overall course grades for each course. 
• Now, when the administrator sets a time for inactive session termination, the auto login feature in the app will no longer renew the session, and the user will be notified before being logged out.

In this patch release, the issue related to the SSO link not reading the SSO session after logging into the mobile app has been resolved. Clients experiencing this problem will now find that the LTI link correctly reads the SSO session and no longer prompts for additional logins on the mobile app, aligning with the expected behavior seen on web browsers.

In the past, we had two separate mobile apps: the Blackboard App and the Blackboard Instructor App. The two apps caused confusion for many instructors. They did not realize that they needed to use a different app to manage their courses.

With this release, we are consolidating to a single app for both instructors and students. The user experience will change based on the user’s role within a course. Instructors can use the updated Blackboard app for both Original and Ultra courses.

Action needed: Support for the Blackboard Instructor iOS and Android apps ends in September 2022. Instructors, Assistants, and Graders should download the Blackboard app for iOS or Android.

The Blackboard app is available in all regions, countries, and territories supported by the Google Play and Apple App stores. The app is available to NAHE, ProEd, and K-12 clients for iOS and Android.

Description

The Blackboard app is designed especially for students and offers students an intuitive way to view and interact with courses. Students can receive mobile updates about courses, take assignments and tests, participate in discussions, join Collaborate sessions, and view grades.

The Mobile Web Services Building Block has been updated to provide additional data and functionality for the Blackboard app. To deliver the best user experience for the Blackboard app, we recommend that you update the Mobile Web Services Building Block to Version 94.9.12+.

The language localization of the app is inherited from the device OS language setting, not the Blackboard Learn user language preference. Localization affects the language of the native user interface, but it does not affect course content.

4. Open the Blackboard app and search for the full name of your institution.
