If you are a Managed Hosting customer, this topic doesn't apply to you.

The Manage Log Rotation tool creates an archive file of all logs. The entries that are sent to the archive are set on this page. Once the logs have been rotated, the logs will consume less space. Please note that the archive files must be moved or deleted manually or they will remain on the web/application server indefinitely.

There is a command line tool available for manually rotating logs.

Manage log rotation

  1. On the Administrator Panel, under Tools and Utilities, select Logs.
  2. Select System Logs.
  3. Select Log Rotation. The following table describes the available fields.
Log Rotation Settings
Field Description
Log Rotation Settings
Set Frequency of System Log Rotation Select a number of days between log rotations from the drop-down list. Logs will be rotated and archives created at intervals based on the number of days set. If logs are manually rotated from the command line it will not interrupt the regular intervals. However, the logs that were rotated manually will not be included in the archive files created at the regularly scheduled rotation. For example, if the log rotation is set at 30 days and the logs are manually rotated after 15 days, only the last 15 days of logs will be included in the archives at the next scheduled log rotation.
Set Time of Day for System Log Rotation Set the time of day that the logs will be rotated. The time is determined based on the server clock. If the server is in a different time zone be sure to take that into account when selecting a time for the rotation to occur.

Manage manual log rotation

The Rotate Logs tool processes a log rotation outside the scheduled log rotations configured through the Log Rotation page.
