The Student Insights Toolkit v2 extension provides institutions with customizable dashboards that can be displayed to students, instructors, and administrators. These dashboards contain data visualizations that show markers such as progress, engagement, and completion. They display unique views highlighting what you determine is most important for your faculty and students, providing the ability to see the high-level view and drill down into the details of the data. You will work with Anthology Professional Services resources to develop a number of custom visualizations and dashboards, the scope of which will be determined upon purchase. Once your visualizations have been created, you will be able to create new dashboards using those visualizations.

An Example Visualization

Bar chart options

This is just one example of a visualization. It shows the data in the form of a chart and gives you multiple options for how to view that chart. It also gives you several options for accessing the data underlying the chart. Visualizations come in many forms, including bar charts, tables, line graphs, pie charts, and more.

The Configure Student Insights Toolkit v2 Screen

After your visualizations have been created, you can create new dashboards, modify existing dashboards, and create placements for any of your dashboards. To configure these options, you will need to access the Configure Student Insights Toolkit v2 screen.

  1. Sign in to Blackboard.
  2. Access the Admin Panel.
  3. Select Platform Extensions in the Cloud Management area.
  4. Choose Edit Settings from the Student Insights Toolkit v2 menu.

Select the Availability toggle to make the extension available. This toggle must be selected for dashboards to be visible to users.

You will see four tabs. You can ignore the Query Definitions and Data Sources tabs; they are set up for you as part of the Student Insights Toolkit v2 implementation.

You will have the ability to edit queries on the Query Definitions tab. We recommend that you do not do this. Queries on this tab have been designed for the visualizations that were created for your institution, and altering the queries can interfere with the ability of those visualizations to run correctly. In addition, editing queries on this tab or adding new queries has the potential to crash your system if done incorrectly.

On the Visualizations tab, you will see a read-only list of all the visualizations available for you to use, along with their descriptions. On the Dashboards tab, you will see a list of all the current dashboards in your system, and from here you can configure your dashboard options.
