Mastery tab in Gradebook configuration
Instructors and students can access the Mastery tab in Gradebook to review how their activities align with institutional goals. Based on the goal performance scale set by your institution, the tab displays the mastery of each alignment. Turn on the Mastery tab in Gradebook
There are two ways to turn on the Mastery tab in Gradebook.
- Go to Tools in the Administrator Panel. Go to the Student Goal Performance Dashboard section. You must turn on Goal Performance. Set the availability of Goal Performance to ON.
- Go to Course Settings in the Administrator Panel. Select Course Tools. You must turn on Goal Performance. Set the availability of Goal Performance to ON.
There are no related building blocks that need to be edited. Only Goal Performance affects whether the Mastery tab in Gradebook is available.
Control the visibility of the Mastery tab in Gradebook
- Goal Performance set to locked: the Mastery tab in Gradebook will be in all gradebooks and instructors can’t control whether the Mastery tab in Gradebook is available or not.
- Goal Performance set to unlocked: instructors choose whether the Mastery tab in Gradebook is in their gradebooks. Instructors control this feature through the Course Settings options for their courses.
Turn off the Mastery tab in Gradebook
To turn off the Mastery tab in Gradebook, go to Course Settings in the Administrator Panel. Select Course Tools. You must turn off Goal Performance. Set the availability of Goal Performance to OFF. Whether Goal Performance is set to locked or unlocked has no effect on the availability of the Mastery tab in Gradebook.
Configure the Performance Scale
The performance scale is an institutional configuration. This allows for consistent aggregation across courses. It also creates consistency for students in mastery-based programs.
You can configure the number of levels as well as the labels and colors for each level. To configure the performance scale, go to the Administrator Panel. Select Course Settings, and then select Goal Performance Scale.
