Access the Grade Center
You access the Grade Center from the Control Panel. Select heading 4 link for the Grade Center then select Full Grade Center. After the Grade Center loads select the Turn Screen Reader Mode on link. Press Insert + T to see if Screen Reader Mode is active.
You'll need to turn on screen reader mode each time you load Blackboard Learn.
The main feature and default view of the Grade Center is a table. The rows of this table correspond to individual students, except for the top-most row. The columns correspond to gradable items, such as assignments and tests.
Press Alt + Ctrl + Left and Alt + Ctrl + Right to move between the different gradable items for a particular student.
The advantage to using these keys over tab and Shift+Tab is that you can clearly understand the bounds of each row.
Access column menus
Each top most row of a column in the Grade Center contains a graphic. The label of the graphic indicates if an assignment has been graded.
- JAWS says "Click for More Options", if a grade can be changed.
- JAWS says "No Grade", if an item can't be graded.
The graphic also opens the column menu. Select the graphic in the top most row of a column to view details about that column (if it's a survey, assignment, test, and so on) or to edit it.
If focus doesn't automatically jump to the list of links for commands after you've selected a link in this row, press Ctrl + End to jump to the bottom of the document. You'll find them there.

Notice that JAWS announces "Not Selected" before almost all of the items. Press Ctrl+Space to select an item. It's important to hold down Ctrl when using the arrow keys to move up and down within this list. Pressing the up or down arrow keys without holding Ctrl moves to and selects the next item, while deselect all of the items that were previously selected.
- After you've selected your columns, press Tab once and select Move selected Columns Over to add them to this new column's calculation.
- Turn off forms mode and use the arrow keys to move through the page. This helps you better understand the next few fields that deal with the calculation. Press the Space bar to check the radio buttons options you want.
