You can download login page templates supplied with Blackboard Learn and configure them for your system. If a login page template breaks or is not appropriate for the institution, the default login page can be restored so that users can access the system with minimal interruption.

All the relevant styles for any custom login pages must be included within the <head> tags of the login page to render properly.


Manage the Login page

  1. In the Administrator Panel in the Ultra experience is here! select Brands.
  2. Select Create New Brand.
  3. Select Customize next to Login Page.

This table describes the available tasks.

Download a template for the login page Select Download Template.
Upload a customized login page Select Upload. You can browse your computer or the Content Collection. Locate the file and complete the upload. The customized login page is then set as the login page.
Reset the login page to the default Select the trash icon.

Customize the Login page

  1. In the Administrator Panel in the Ultra experience is here! select Brands.
  2. Select Create New Brand.
  3. Select Customize next to Login Page.
  4. Select Download to download and customize a copy of the JSP login page.
  5. Open the file with a text editor. You can edit the colors, style of text, and the text itself. You can also create a link to an image.
  6. Save the login file to your computer.
  7. Back on the Create New Brand Page in the Login Page section, select Upload to search for an existing JSP login page saved on your local system.
  8. Select Save to save changes.
  9. Log out to test the new login page.
    If the page fails and you can't log in, type this address in your web browser to bring up the default login page: http://domain_name.host_name/webapps/login?action=default_login. After you log in, go back to Customize Login Page and select the link to restore the default login page. Now users can log in again.

Starting with the 3200.4.0 Learn SaaS release, those with custom login pages should update their pages with a line of JavaScript to enable animations:

Customize the Login page for a brand

If you want to show a customized login page to certain users based on their role or the hostname where they access Blackboard Learn, you first need to create a custom brand in the Ultra experience.

  1. In the Administrator Panel in the The Ultra experience is here! section, select Brands.
  2. Create a new brand or select Edit next to an existing one.
  3. In the Login Page section, select Download Template. The file downloads to your computer.
  4. Open the file with a text editor. You can edit the colors, style of text, and the text itself. You can also create a link to an image.
  5. Save the login file to your computer.
  6. Back on the Brand Details page in the Login Page section, select Upload to search for the JSP login page saved on your local system.
  7. Select Save to save changes.
  8. Log out to test the new login page.

Troubleshoot

  1. If the page fails and you can't log in, type this address in your web browser to bring up the default login page: http://domain_name.host_name/webapps/login?action=default_login.
  2. After you log in, go back to Administrator Panel > Brands.
  3. Edit the brand and clear the Customize option next to Login Page to restore the default login page. Users who see this brand will be able to log in.
