Set the VIPs for your directories.

VIP's are user accounts that appear on the top page in the directory, such as principals at a school.

After you create directories to appear in your mobile app through Global Settings, you can add and delete VIPs individually or complete a mass configuration if you have several schools in your district.


Add VIPs

  1. From the Blackboard Communications HQ interface menu, select Settings > App Config.
  2. Select the organization Name to update the information.
  3. Select the Directory VIPs tab.
  4. Select the directory Name to edit.
  5. To add one VIP, select the Add a VIP icon.
    • Type in the name of the individual.
    • Select Search.
    • When the correct individual appears, select Add.
  6. To add several VIPs, select the Add VIPs by Role icon.

    • Select the role type to add as VIPs, and then select Add.

      This feature will automatically add ALL accounts set to the role type as the VIPs.


Add several VIPs with mass configuration

Only district administrators can manage VIPs on a mass scale. You will have three options for adding VIPs for a district:

  • Selecting a role type and adding it to a specific organization (school)
  • Selecting a role type and adding it to all organizations (schools)
  • Searching for an individual and adding it to a specific organization

You complete a mass configuration in the Global App Settings.

  1. From the Blackboard Communications HQ interface menu, select Settings > App Config.
  2. Select the Global App Settings button.
  3. Select the Directory tab.
  4. Select the Name of the directory to update.
  5. Locate the VIPs section and select how to add the VIP:
    • To select a role type for a specific organization:
      • Select the district or school from the Organization list.
      • Select a Role of the specific user to add as the VIP.
      • Select Search.
      • Select Add to add a specific account, or select Add All to add all the accounts as VIPs.
    • To select a role type for all organizations:
      • Select a Role of the users to add as the VIP.
      • Select Search.
      • Select Add to add a specific account, or select Add All to add all the accounts as VIPs.
    • To search for an individual for a specific organization:
      • Select the district or school from the Organization list.
      • Type the name of the individual in the Search by name box.
      • Select Search.
      • Select Add to add the account as a VIP.

Remove VIPs

You can remove VIPs from either the App Config Directory VIPs section or the Global App Settings Directory section. Removing a VIP does NOT delete the user account.

  • Remove a single VIP:
    1. From the Blackboard Communications HQ interface menu, select Settings > App Config.
    2. Select the organization Name to update the information.
    3. Select the Directory VIPs tab.
    4. Select the directory Name to edit.
    5. Select Remove to remove the VIP from the directory.
  • Remove multiple VIPs:
    1. Select Settings > App Config.
    2. Select the Global App Settings button.
    3. Select the Directory tab.
    4. Select the Name of the directory to update.
    5. Locate the VIPs section.
    6. Select the specific district or school with the VIP to remove from the Organization list.
    7. Select Remove to remove an individual account, or select Remove VIPs for (organization) to remove all the VIPs.
