    Tell me about yourself

    If enabled, you can update your profile information. Update your profile picture, your email address, your website address, and other profile settings. You can also change your password information and set language preferences.


    Open your profile

    You can access your profile and set account preferences through your dashboard/profile preferences. If your institution uses the Snap design theme, select My Courses > Your name > Preferences. If your institution uses another theme, select Your name > Profile > Preferences.

    Update your profile settings

    If enabled, you can update and change your profile information and site preferences. 

    1. Access your dashboard.
      Steps in Snap: My Courses > Your name > Edit profile.
      Steps in other themes: Your name > Profile > Edit profile.
    2. Determine profile preferences and make the necessary changes. Required information is marked with an asterisk.
      • Update your name information.
      • Your email address and whether to display your email address on the site.
      • Update your location and time zone as needed.
      • Select your preferred design theme for your course pages.
      • Add a description about yourself.
      • Update your picture for your profile.
      • Add any nicknames or how to pronounce your name.
      • Add any other contact information.
    3. Select Update profile to save the changes.

    Change your password

    If enabled, you can update your password for your Moodlerooms site. You can not update your username. If you have any issues with password changes, contact your institution's system administrator.

    1. Access your preferences.
      Steps in Snap: My Courses > Your name > Preferences
      Steps in other themes: Your name > Profile > Preferences
    2. Select Change password.
    3. Type your Current password.
    4. Enter your New password according to your institution's requirements.
    5. Enter your New password again.
    6. Select Save changes.

    Depending on how your account has been created, you might not be able to change your password. If you have problems changing your password, contact your institution's system administrator.


    Set your preferences

    If enabled, you can set several preferences for your own account, including your language preference.

    Set language preferences

    Select the language you want to display throughout the website.

    Select the language from the list.

    Set editor preferences

    You can set your editing tool preferences for when you need to add text to your course pages. The editors available depend on your institution.

    • Select the Text editor of your choice:
      • If you select an HTML editor such as Atto or TinyMCE, text input areas will include a toolbar with buttons for adding content.
      • If you select Plain text area, you can choose the format for text input areas, such as HTML or Markdown.

    Set messaging preferences

    If enabled, you can set how to be notified of messages when you are logged in or out of the system.

    1. For each type of message, select the notification preferences whether you are logged in or out of the system.
      • Activity stream: If enabled, will send the notification to the user's Activity stream.
      • Popup notification: If enabled, the notification will pop-up from the system tray.
      • Email: If enabled, the notification is sent as an e-mail.
      • Alert badge notification: If enabled, the notification will appear as an alert in the Alert badge.
    2. If your institution uses Jabber, you can type Jabber ID to receive Jabber instant messages.
    3. Set your Email preferences and address if different than your standard email address.
    4. Select the General settings for notifications:
      • Beep when popup notification is displayed.
      • Prevent non-contacts from messaging me.
      • Temporarily disable notifications - emergency messages from site administrators will still appear.

    Set blog preferences and manage blogs

    If your institution uses blogs, you can set the number of entries per page and register an external RSS blog feed.

    Steps in other themes: Your name > Profile > Preferences

    • Set the number of blog entries - select Blog preferences and type the number of entries.
    • Register a blog - select Register an external blog and type the RSS feed URL, name, and description.

    Set badge preferences and manage badges

    If your institution uses badges, you can set preferences for displaying your badges.

    Steps in Snap: My Courses > Your name > Preferences

    Steps in other themes: Your name > Profile > Preferences

    • Set whether to display badges - select Badge preferences and select or clear Automatically show badges I earn on my profile page.
    • Manage badges - select Manage badges, and search for the badge to update.

    Moodlerooms Forums allow you to configure settings in your user profile to manage forum subscriptions and tracking.

    Locate the following settings and edit them.

    • Forum auto-subscribe: Select Yes: when I post, subscribe me to that forum to automatically subscribe to a forum when you post in any forum.
    • Forum tracking: Select Yes: highlight new posts for me to highlight unread forum posts in color when you enter a forum.
