Content Release Conditions
Instructors can set release conditions for when you can view and access course content. There are three types of release conditions and instructors may set multiple conditions for releasing content. These may include:
- Conditions for which course members or groups have access
- Conditions for the dates and times content is accessible, visible, and hidden
- Conditions for performance, such as submitting an assignment or scoring above a threshold on a test
Performance conditions
Performance conditions set by your instructor can involve grade requirements, point requirements, or submission requirements.
- A grade requirement involves a letter grade. For example, your instructor may require you to get at least a B on a test before you can access the next one.
- A point requirement involves a certain number of points. For example, your instructor may require you to get at least 70 points on a quiz before you can access the next one.
- A submission requirement means that you must submit something before you can access content, but you don’t have to wait for that submission to be graded before moving on.
Visibility
Your instructor can set visibility settings for when course content is accessible to you.
When your instructor sets content to “Show,” you can view the date and time the content will be released, the first release condition you must meet, and when you can no longer access that content. Visible content appears on your course calendar and Grades page, in addition to the Course Content page.
Content may have multiple release conditions. If this is the case, your instructor may inform you any additional release conditions after the first one.
When your instructor sets content to “Hide,” you can only view the content when you can access it. The date and time window for when you can access the content is hidden. After the access period ends, you can’t view the content at all. However, you can still view your grade and any comments your instructor left on that content in your gradebook.
