Discussion Forums and Threads have two primary use cases for conversion in the Original Course View:
- Discussion Forums are the discussion prompt: You create a forum as the discussion prompt. Your students use the forum to view the prompt and then create a thread in the forum to respond to it.
- Discussion Forums are the containers for discussion prompts: You create a forum as a container with threads. Each thread is a unique discussion prompt. Your students can't create threads. They review each thread for the discussion prompt, and then reply to the thread to answer the prompt.
Discussion Forums are the discussion prompt for conversion
If the "allow members to create new threads" setting is on for the forum, it converts into a Discussion in the Ultra Course View.

If the "allow members to create new threads" setting isn't 'On' for the forum, the forum converts into a folder in the Ultra Course View. All threads in the forum are converted into Discussions and are placed inside the created folder.
