You may find that Matching questions are quite complex for both an instructor and a student. In this topic, we've included the instructor steps for Keyboard, VoiceOver, and JAWS® interactions.

Keyboard interaction

  1. When you first open the panel, focus moves to the points field.

  2. Edit the value or leave as is

  4. After you finish, press Tab to get to the first prompt for Pair 1.

Insert Content interaction: Keyboard

  1. Place your cursor where you want to insert content.
  2. With focus on the editor, press Alt + F10 or Option + F10 on a Mac.
  3. Focus moves to the bold option.
  4. Press Left Arrow or Tab until you get to the ( + ) or Insert Content button.
  5. Press spacebar to activate and open the Insert Content menu.
  6. Focus moves to the Insert/Edit Link menu item.
  7. Press Up or Down Arrows to navigate through the menu items.
  8. Press spacebar to activate the menu item you want.

Insert/Edit Link

  1. When activated, focus moves the Insert Link heading of the dialog.
  2. Press Tab to set focus on the Link URL, which is a required field

  3. Enter URL and press Tab to set focus on the Link text.
  4. Optionally, enter link text.
  5. Press Tab to set focus on Cancel button.
  6. Press Tab to set focus on Insert button.

Insert/Edit Image from Web

      • Press Up Arrow to change the option to allow it to display as an attachment

More Options interaction: Keyboard

  1. Focus moves to reuse an answer.
    1. Press Right Arrow to open the Reuse an answer sub-menu.
    2. Focus moves to the first item in the sub-menu.
    3. Press Up or Down Arrows to navigate to each sub-menu item.
    4. Press spacebar to select.
    5. Menu closes and focus returns to the More Options button.
  2. Press Down Arrow to select Delete.
    1. Press spacebar to activate Delete and remove the answer pair.
    2. Focus disappears. We've reported this issue.
    3. Press Tab and focus moves to the first answer prompt of the previous pair.

VoiceOver interaction

  1. When first opened, focus moves to the points edit field, which is announced as “10.”
  2. Edit the value or leave as is

  3. Press Tab to access “Type Question 1 text” edit field and enter question text.
  4. After you add text, press Tab to “Question 1, Pair 1 Prompt text” edit field.

    • Depending on the speech rate may render “Question 1, Pair 1 Answer text” or it may only render the text entered in the previous Prompt field.

    2. Press Control + Option + Left Arrow to get to the opened list box.
    3. Press Control + Option + Shift-Down Arrow to get to Sort by Relevance list item.
    4. Press Control + Option + Down Arrow or Control + Option + Up Arrow to navigate through the list.
    5. To select a list item, press Control + Option + spacebar to select and close the sort options.
  7. Press Tab to set focus on the “Updated Anytime” button which is the second button of the Filter options.
    1. Press Enter to activate and focus remains on the button.
    2. Press Control + Option + Left Arrow to get to the opened list box.
    3. Press Control + Option + Shift + Down Arrow to get to Sort by Relevance list item.
    4. Press Control + Option + Down Arrow or Control + Option + Up Arrow to navigate through the list.
    5. To select a list item, press Control + Option + spacebar to select and close the sort options.
  8. The results include an image (video thumbnail), video title, description, Preview on YouTube link, and a Select button.
  9. Press Tab to set focus on the image of the first result, which is the video thumbnail. VoiceOver tries to render a long string that may not make sense.
  10. Press Control + Option + Left Arrow to get to the title of that video. Continue to press Control + Option + Left Arrow to read through the information on this video.
  11. When focus is on the Select button, you may press spacebar to activate that button.
  12. The Edit Settings frame opens.
    1. Press Tab to set focus on the video link text and then Tab again play/pause button.
    2. Press Tab until you get to the “star Alternative Text” text field.
    3. Press Tab again to hear the “Content displays as a link to an external website” button. The radio button is the first of two options of how to display this video. “Display Content.”
    4. This first button isn't selected by default. Press spacebar to select.
    5. Press Tab to set focus on the “Content displays inline if the browser allows" button, which is selected by default.
    6. Press Tab to set focus on Cancel button.
    7. Press Tab to set focus on Insert button.
      1. To insert, press spacebar.
      2. Insert dialog closes and the link is inserted into the editor in the location of the cursor.

More Options interaction: VoiceOver

  1. Reuse an answer:
    1. When you first open the menu, focus moves to reuse an answer and the first sub-menu item, which renders as “Reuse an answer from Pair 1.” We've reported this issue.
    2. To close, press Left Arrow and focus returns to Reuse an answer menu item.
    3. Otherwise, press Up or Down Arrow to navigate to each sub-menu item.
    4. Press spacebar to select.
    5. Menu closes and focus returns to the More Options button.
  2. Delete a pair:
    1. If reuse an answer sub-menu is open, press Left Arrow to close the sub-menu, then Down Arrow to select the Delete menu item.
    2. Press spacebar to activate Delete and remove the answer pair.
    3. Focus disappears. We've reported this issue.
    4. Press Tab and focus moves to the Prompt edit field of the previous pair.

JAWS interaction

  1. When first opened, focus moves to the points edit spin box, edit "10"
  2. Edit the value or leave as is

  2. Press Tab to set focus on the “Search for a video” search text field.

  4. Press Tab to set focus on the Search button and press spacebar to activate.
  5. Focus remains on Search button after you activate.
  6. Press Down Arrow to set focus on Filter Results text.
  7. If you want to filter, you can press Tab to navigate to the “Sort by Relevance" button.
    1. Press Enter to activate and focus remains on the button.
    2. Press Control + Option + Left Arrow to get to the opened list box.
    3. Press Control + Option + Shift + Down Arrow to get to Sort by Relevance list item.
    4. Then, press Control + Option + Down Arrow or Control + Option + Up Arrow to navigate through the list.
    5. To select a list item, press Control + Option + spacebar to select and close the sort options.
  8. If you want to filter by a certain timeframe, press Tab to set focus on the “Updated Anytime” button—the second button of the Filter options.
    1. Press Enter to activate and focus remains on the button.
    2. Press Control + Option + Left Arrow to get to the opened list box.
    3. Press Control + Option + Shift + Down Arrow to get to Sort by Relevance list item.
    4. Press Control + Option + Down Arrow or Control + Option + Up Arrow to navigate through the list.
    5. To select a list item, press Control + Option + spacebar to select and close the sort options.
  9. The results include an image (video thumbnail), video title, description, Preview on YouTube link, and a Select button.
  10. From the Timeframe button (Updated Anytime), press Down Arrow from this point to get to the first of the results.
    1. From here, the order is rendered in this way:
      1. Link graphic—alternative text of the image
      2. Title of the Results
      3. User information, added date, and description
      4. More description with “dotdotdot”
      5. Preview on YouTube colon
      6. The URL of the YouTube video
      7. Select button option to choose the video
    2. If you want to cancel out of this, open the forms list and locate the Cancel button.
  11. When focus is on the Select button, press spacebar to activate that button.
  12. The Edit Settings frame opens.
    1. JAWS renders “Edit Content settings heading level 1.”
    2. Press Down Arrow to confirm the correct video was selected.
    3. Press Tab to set focus on the video link text and then Tab again play/pause button.
    4. Press Tab until you get to the “star Alternative Text” edit” field.
    5. Press Tab again to hear the “the Content displays as a link to an external website” button. This first radio button is one of two options of how to display this video which is the “Display Content” options.
    6. This first button isn't selected by default. Press spacebar to select.
    7. Press Tab to set focus on the default selected option: “Content displays inline if the browser allows" button.
    8. The next Tab sets focus on the “Back to results button.”
    9. Press Tab again to set focus on Cancel button.
    10. Press Tab to set focus on Insert button.
      1. To insert, press spacebar.
      2. Insert dialog closes and the link is inserted into the editor in the location of the cursor.

Reuse an answer:

  1. When you first open the menu, focus moves to the first option: "Reuse an Answer."
  2. Press Right Arrow to open the sub-menu.
  3. Focus moves to the first option in the sub-menu.
  4. Press Up or Down Arrow to navigate to each sub-menu item.
  5. Press spacebar to select or Left Arrow to close.
  6. If selected, the menu closes and focus returns to the More Options button.

Delete a pair:

  1. Press Down Arrow after Reuse an answer menu item. Focus is on Delete.
  2. Press spacebar to activate “Delete Question 1, Pair #” and remove the answer pair.
  3. Focus disappears. We've reported this issue.
  4. Press Tab and focus moves to the Prompt edit field of the first pair.
  5. To quickly get back to the previous pair, open up the forms list, and select the “Add Pair button.”
