The main differences between Grade Export v1 and Grade Export v2 are backend changes that are not visible to administrators and end users. These backend changes were necessary to make Grade Export a more scalable, sustainable, and better-performing solution. We hope that you will find the change between the two versions relatively seamless.
If you would like assistance migrating from Grade Export v1 to Grade Export v2, you can consult with your Blackboard Account Manager to discuss contracting additional migration assistance.
Record your Grade Export v1 settings
The first and most important step that you will take is to record your Grade Export v1 settings. You will find that nearly all these settings will transfer exactly to v2. You can record these settings in whatever manner you think is easiest, but it might be a good idea to take screenshots of each screen’s settings to back up whatever record-keeping method you choose.
Subscribe to Grade Export v2
Select Platform Extensions on the Blackboard Admin Panel. From the Grade Export v2 menu, choose Subscribe. Select the Available toggle so that it is enabled.
Configure Grade Export v2 roles
Select Grade Export v2 Settings in the Tools and Utilities area on the Blackboard Admin Panel. Choose the roles that users must have to be able to launch the Grade Approval and Transfer tool.
- Grade Approver Admin roles can launch the tool from the admin interface.
- Grade Approver User roles can launch the tool from inside a course.
Transfer settings
Select Platform Extensions on the Blackboard Admin Panel. From the Grade Export v2 menu, choose Edit Settings. You will set up each of the four tabs in turn.
Grade Extract Settings
Select the Grade Extract Settings tab. Expand each of the six sections and refer to the record you made of your Grade Export v1 configuration to configure the settings. Choose Submit to save your changes.
Incoming Settings
Select the Incoming Settings tab. Again, enter the settings as they were set up in your Grade Export v1 configuration.
If you are going to provision gradebook data using REST APIs, this will now be done using OAuth2 by default. The Grade Export v2 API authentication follows the same OAuth2 authentication process as the core Learn REST API. This requires a REST API application on the Anthology Developer Portal. (See the Anthology Developer Documentation to learn more about application setup and OAuth2 authentication.) Because of this change, under REST Security settings, you will not have the option to choose "Enabled OAuth Security."
Grade Export v2 has its own version-specific webservice endpoints.
Choose Submit to save your changes.
Notification Settings
Select the Notification Settings tab. Enter the settings as they were set up in your Grade Export v1 configuration. Choose Submit to save your changes.
Admin Tools
There are no settings to carry over on the Admin Tools tab.
Turn off Grade Export v1
- Select Platform Extensions on the Blackboard Admin Panel.
- Deselect the Available toggle for Grade Export v1.
- Select Edit Settings from the Grade Export v1 menu.
- On the Grade Extract Settings tab, deselect the Enabled? toggle to disable the Grade Export Extraction process.
- Select Submit to save your changes.
Changes in the approval workflow
While there are changes in the approval workflow interface, the functionality has not changed. All the same pieces are still there, but the look has been updated.
In Grade Export v2, the action buttons for the approval workflow are on the left side of the screen, and the UI is more compact:
In Grade Export v1, the action buttons are on the right side of the screen:
