On this page, learn more about how to use building blocks when creating guides. For more information, go to Pendo’s documentation on building blocks.
Add a building block
1. Open a Guide in the Visual Design Studio and view a guide step.
2. Select inside the guide step to add content if you have a blank step. When you hover over the step (or tab to it with your keyboard), it says Click to Add Content.
If the step already includes content:
- Add a new row by hovering above or below an existing building block
- Add a new column by hovering to the left or right of a text, button, or image building block
3. Select the type of Building Block from the menu.
4. Select an existing Building Block to open the edit menu and make any changes.
Task List
With the Task List building block, you can design and deploy a sequence of tasks for users. Task lists can be scheduled, segmented, targeted, and delivered to specific users.
The Task List building block makes it easy to design logical, customizable guides align with the look and functionality of an institution’s Blackboard instance. You may want to create a guide within Blackboard that aligns with the logical order of a user’s workflow. The guide breaks down the steps into clear, manageable steps to educate or train users on a specified functionality within Blackboard. The guides track the user’s progress to give them a sense of progression to encourage learning.
The Task List building blocks provides:
- Sequential progression. Organize guides in a logical order to create structured learning or task completion.
- Progress tracking. Indicates completed guides to give users a sense of accomplishment and encourage them to continue.
- Customizable appearance. Align a task list to match your app's design and user experience.
It's best practice to use a badge or target element activation for the task list so that the user can repeatedly reference and come back to the task list.
